Nashville Mayor Presents NRGM Proclamation

National Reading Group Month ProclamationThe WNBA Nashville chapter was honored to have Nashville Mayor Karl Dean on hand to present the NRGM Proclamation at the National Reading Group Month Signature Event, Coffee with Authors, on Saturday, October 13, 2012. The proclamation concludes by stating: “Now, therefore, be it resolved that I, Karl F. Dean, Mayor of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, do hereby join the Nashville Chapter of the Women’s National Book Association in celebrating National Reading Group Month and welcoming the distinguished group of featured authors to our city.”

The featured authors for this year’s Signature Event, co-sponsored by the Nashville Public Library and Parnassus Books, were best-selling authors Ben Fountain (Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, Ecco/HarperCollins; 2012 National Book Award Finalist), Christopher Tilghman (The Right-Hand Shore, Farrar, Straus and Giroux; 2012 Great Group Reads selection), Gail Tsukiyama (A Hundred Flowers, St. Martin’s Press), and Karen Thompson Walker (The Age of Miracles, Random House). In an encore appearance, Nashville Public Radio WPLN All Things Considered host Nina Cardona led the panel-program.
