Monthly Meeting – Thursday, November 3

leanne-smithPlease join us on Thursday, November 3, at Jonathan’s Grille at Green Hills Mall in Nashville to hear Leanne Smith, author and professor at Lipscomb University’s College of Business, discuss “Being a Writer – Getting It All Done.” The program starts at 6:00 and is free and open to the public. Arrive early to network with members and guests, starting at 5:00. Meals and beverages are available for purchase if desired.

May Meeting – Garden Party

Garden Party 2012Our last meeting before our summer break will be our annual Garden Party, to be held Thursday, May 5.  Members and their guests are invited to the garden of president-elect Barbie Chadwick in Nashville to enjoy food and drinks provided by the WNBA-Nashville board. Details with more information and directions to the garden party will be sent via email to members. Hope to see you there!

March 3 Meeting on Social Media

IMG_9509 - Version 2Join us on March 3 at Jonathan’s Grille in Green Hills with author and book lover Mary Laura Philpott of Parnassus Books and NPT’s “A Word on Words” as we discuss how readers and writers can enjoy the “bookternet” and even embrace social media.  The meeting is free and open to the public. It will start at 6, with drinks and dinner at 5 if you wish to come early. Our inclement weather policy is to cancel if the Metro schools are closed. 

February 4 Monthly Meeting

Our first monthly meeting of 2016 is Thursday, February 4, at Jonathan’s Grille in Green Hills.  The meeting will start at 6, with drinks and dinner at 5 if you wish to come early. Our inclement weather policy is to cancel if the Metro schools are closed. 

This month’s program is The Art of the Review:

Do book reviews still matter? Who generates them? How do such reviews impact book lovers and the publishing landscape? Join us for a lively discussion about reviews with these extraordinary panelists: author/bookseller River Jordan; novelist Patti Callahan Henry; author Jamie Blaine; and WNBA member and book reviewer Roger Bishop.

November Meeting, Thursday, November 5

KillerNashvilleThe November program will be Mystery and Suspense in Nashville, featuring Clay Stafford from Killer Nashville. Publishers’ Weekly has named Stafford one of the top 10 Nashville literary leaders playing “an essential role in defining which books become bestsellers” not only in middle-Tennessee, but also extending “beyond the city limits and into the nation’s book culture.” (PW 6/10/13). He is the founder of Killer Nashville and publisher of Killer Nashville Magazine. The meeting will be held on Thursday, November 5, at Jonathan’s Grille in Green Hills. The program starts at 6:00 but many will arrive early to network.

For those readers who love mystery and thrillers, check out Killer Nashville’s BookCon before our meeting on Saturday, October 31. It’s free and open to the public. Guest authors include John Gilstrap, M. William Phelps, and Robert K. Tanenbaum among others. Then attend our monthly meeting November 5 to hear Clay talk about Killer Nashville and how to get involved.
