Meetings Resume September 7

Please join us Thursday, September 7 at Jonathan’s Grille in Green Hills for our annual presentation of authors to check out at the Southern Festival of Books. Gail Vinett, the immediate past president of the WNBA Nashville chapter, will discuss programs and authors you won’t want to miss. The program starts at 6:00 and is free and open to the public. Arrive early to network with members and guests, starting at 5:00. Meals and beverages are available for purchase if desired. 

Coffee with Authors 2016

The annual Coffee with Authors event was held Saturday morning during the Southern Festival of Books at the Nashville Public Library. Southern Festival of Books – 2015

This year’s Festival will be held October 9 – 11, with the Women’s National Book Association’s Coffee with Authors event on Saturday morning, October 10. A list of authors currently scheduled for the Southern Festival of Books can be found on the Humanities Tennessee website

Lacey Cook of Humanities Tennessee will join Gail Vinett to discuss programs and authors you won’t want to miss. The program starts at 6:00 but many will arrive early to network.

WNBA Southern Festival Booth

NRGM-LibbyLibby Simons, our Southern Festival of Books Chair, was busy manning the booth at the Festival this year. Thanks to all who stopped by and purchased merchandise from our booth. Proceeds will be used to help fund a scholarship for an aspiring young writer to attend the Tennessee Young Writer’s Workshop in the summer of 2015. The workshop is presented by Humanities Tennessee.

cup & coaster & napkinRegistration is now open for the National Reading Group Month Coffee with Authors event on Saturday, October 11 from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at the Nashville Main Library, 615 Church Street. There will be complimentary coffee with the author panel to follow in the auditorium. 2014 Great Group Reads Selections

Great Group Reads LogoThe Great Group Reads titles for 2014 have been announced. Three of the authors whose books have been selected will be speaking at our National Reading Group Month Signature Event, Coffee with Authors at the Southern Festival of Books on October 11 – Lily King (Euphoria), Ann Weisgarber (The Promise), and Gabrielle Zevin (The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry).

Volunteers Needed for the WNBA Booth

volunteerswantedMembers are needed to help at the WNBA booth again this year at the Southern Festival of Books. The festival runs from October 10 through 12, and 2-hour time slots are open all three days as follows: Friday – 12-2 pm, 2-4 pm, 4-6 pm; Saturday – 10-noon, noon-2 pm, 2-4 pm, 4-6 pm; Sunday – noon-2 pm, 2-4 pm. The final slot on Sunday is one hour from 4-5 pm and involves helping pack up materials in the booth.
